Vojtěch Pelka

Vojtěch Pelka is a leading Czech countertenor. Graduating from Prague’s Jan Deyl Conservatory under Barbora Klozová Velehradská, he continues his training with her. He won 2nd Prize and Audience Award at the 2025 Renata Tebaldi International Voice Competition (San Marino), Audience Award at the 2024 Cesti Competition (Innsbruck), and 2nd Prize with a Special Mozart Prize at the 2019 Czech Conservatories’ Competition.
After his 2019/2020 debut as Cherubino (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Le nozze di Figaro) at Silesian Theatre Opava, and the Prague’s Estates Theatre, he sang Nerone (Claudio Monteverdi: L’incoronazione di Poppea) at Pilsen’s J. K. Tyl Theatre, guest-starring at Margravial Opera House (Musica Bayreuth 2023). Premiering Dafnis (Tomáš Hanzlík: The Treasure of Arcadia) at Opera Schrattenbach 2021 earned him a 2022 Thalia Award nomination. He sings Michael Kocáb’s works (Odysseus, Jan Hus) with Prague Symphony Orchestra FOK, Moravian Philharmonic Olomouc, and at Metronome Festival Prague 2024.
In the 2022/2023 season, he sang Sesto (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: La clemenza di Tito) at the Moravian Theatre Olomouc, and Morasto (Antonio Vivaldi: La fida ninfa) at the Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik (AT). Under the direction of Marek Štryncl with Musica Florea, he sang Jupiter and Tiempo (Sebastián Durón: La guerra de los gigantes) in Poland and Czechia. He also sings the soprano part in Stabat mater (G. B. Pergolesi), previously performed with the Slovak Sinfonietta Žilina.
Until March 2026, he performed the title role of Pinocchio in the contemporary opera (Tomáš Hanzlík & Vít Zouhar: Pinocchio) at the South Bohemian Theatre. He sang the title role of Alessandro Severo (Georg Friedrich Händel: Alessandro Severo) with Collegium Marianum at the Krumlov Festival, and Prenesto (Giovanni Bononcini: Il trionfo di Camilla) with Musica Florea.
In 2025/2026, he returned to Pilsen’s J. K. Tyl Theatre as Tamerlano (Josef Mysliveček: Il gran Tamerlano), directed by Rocc, conducted by Vojtěch Spurný. In April 2026, he debuts at National Theatre Brno as Nerone (Georg Friedrich Händel: Agrippina) with Collegium 1704 under Václav Luks, directed by Martin Glaser. Highlights include Les Trois Contre-Ténors! at Royal Opera of Versailles under Stefan Plewniak, and a Händel gala at Warsaw Chamber Opera with Musicae Antiquae Collegium Varsoviense under Zbigniew Pilch.
Performing across Germany, France, Austria, China, Poland, Switzerland, and Slovakia, he collaborates with Guiyang Symphony Orchestra, Prague Symphony Orchestra FOK, Pilsen Philharmonic, Barocco sempre giovane, Musica Florea, Collegium Marianum, Ensemble Damian, Moravian Philharmonic Olomouc, RUN OPERUN and Viaggio musicale. Festivals include Litoměřice Music Festival, Monastery Music Festival (2026 Artist in Residence), Theatrum Kuks, Opera Schrattenbach, Musica Bayreuth, Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik, Krumlov Festival and Barokowe eksploracje.
His 2019 CPO CD features arias by Ignaz Holzbauer and Jan Antonín Koželuh: Alessandro nell’ India with Ensemble 18+ and Kurpfälzisches Kammerorchester Mannheim. He recorded The Treasure of Arcadia by Tomáš Hanzlík in 2023. In 2025, CPO released a recording of the opera La fida ninfa by Antonio Vivaldi, in which he sings the role of Morasto with the OperaJung orchestra under Chiara Cattani.
